Sodus Elementary School has been very busy the first three months of school! We welcomed many new families this year, and got a chance to meet them and see returning families at the Welcome Back picnic in August, and Open House in October.

Our PBIS theme this year is “Launching Into RRK.” As a school community, we have had monthly assemblies where our Student of the Month nominees are recognized, and our monthly character traits are introduced. Students and staff are excited to get back to in-person assemblies, and students have done very well showing RRK.

On Friday, October 13th, we welcomed first responders from Sodus, Sodus Center, Sodus Point, Alton, and Wallington Fire Departments, in addition to Wayne County Sheriff, Wayne County EMS, and Stillwater EMS. Each grade level had an opportunity to have an assembly about fire safety, and then had an opportunity to see fire trucks and first responder vehicles up close. Students were incredibly excited, and it was a wonderful opportunity for all.

At the end of October, we held Fall Fest 2023. Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped out that day, Brick Church Farms for the use of their wagon, and Mr. Martinez for being our tractor driver! Students got to participate in pumpkin bowling, relay races, face painting, and activities in their grade levels.

November kicked off with our Veterans Day Assembly. 26 veterans were honored at our assembly, and students thanked them for their service. We also had our two family Thanksgiving Feast Days with over 200 family members joining our students over those two days. Our first family game night was a great success as well!

December is bringing our first ever third grade choir concert! Our students will also be presenting at the board of education meeting to share about the new clubs that have been created this year.

Sodus Elementary School is a special place, filled with hard working staff that love our students, and want the very best for each one of them. I want to thank them for their dedication that they give our students each and every day. As a school community, we will work to continue to provide the very best for every student. Below you will find grade and department updates. We look forward to all that is in store for the rest of the school year!

 With Gratitude,

Miss Jacki Mader
